Archie Vs. Archie

As many of you likely remember, I'm a huge fan of Archie Comics. (The pre-reboot stuff, at the very least.) An adaptation titled Riverdale will be coming to the CW next season...and the very thought makes me want to vomit.

Could the show end up being good on its own? Possibly. Will it be a good adaptation? Doubtful. They've already made far too many changes. I'm especially appalled by the ageist casting of Miss Grundy, and the fact that she and Archie will be...er...

Yeeaaah...Archie sleeping with Miss Grundy is going to be canon in one corner of the Archieverse. I realize he's a horndog in the comics, but sheesh, even he should have limits when it comes to his harem...

(The above artwork is also up on Patreon, for those of you who want to see my disgust in high-resolution...)

  1. Really? Wow. I can only imagine the other changes they've made, trying to make it 'modern.' No thanks.

    1. Yeah, it's really sickening to see how they've twisted the characters' personalities, not to mention the overall tone of the property. Heaven forbid something be wholesome, zany, and fun!

  2. Archie is a horndog?! But wasn't he supposed to have a girlfriend - Betty or Veronica or something? I never read mainstream comics, only Tales From the Crypt and other horror ones, so I don't really know about Archie's sexual conquests. ;)

    1. LOL, it's impossible for Archie to commit to a single woman. Not only is he in an eternal love triangle with Betty and Veronica, but having flings with with countless others, such as Cheryl Blossom, and even Valerie (of Josie and the Pussycats fame).

  3. I used to read that comic in the Sunday paper, of course it didn't quite sound like that;)

    1. Haha, yeah, I think it's safe to say that the TV show won't match what any of us have seen in the comics all too well...

    1. Archie Comics have been around for 75 years. (So, roughly the same longevity as Batman and Superman.) These comics are responsible for bringing Betty and Veronica, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and countless others into our world!

    1. Yeah, it's mind-boggling that something like this is canon in the TV show. Who's Archie going to bang next? The moms of Betty and Veronica?! LOL.

    1. Yeah, a trailer leaked that showed them...uh...together. I don't think I'll ever stop being disgusted by that...
