Comic Review: Die Kitty Die! #1

Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz have teamed up to bring us Die Kitty Die!, a fun new series about a beautiful witch with a comic based on her. When sales tank, Kitty can’t help but worry about what the publisher will do to revitalize the series, especially since they’ve been prone to crazy gimmicks before…

It turns out she has every reason to worry, because not only do they plan to kill her character this time around, but kill the real Kitty, as well!

The first issue of Die Kitty Die! is a hilarious introduction to Kitty’s world, brilliantly parodying how desperate the comic book industry can be. Gorgeous pinup illustrations by J. Bone and Gisèle Lagacé also fill out the issue. As someone who grew up adoring Dan and Fernando’s work for Archie Comics, it’s been a lot of fun to see them branch out with a creator-owned project like this. I can’t wait to revisit Kitty and her friends (and enemies!) in issue #2!

(Still need to read issue #1? You can download a copy for only $3 here!)

  3. I'd heard about it but didn't know the premise. Ironic they wanted to kill the real her as well.

    1. Do cheeseburgers count? Cause the characters did have fast food delivered to them at one point... :P

  8. Once I got past the giant boobs (are men just children forever??), I really enjoyed the expressions on the faces of the characters and think the series is very well drawn. Have a great week, Heather! :)
