Die, Kitty! Die!

Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz have just launched a Kickstarter for their comic Die, Kitty! Die! These two have been favorite artists of mine for as long as I’ve read comics—my whole life, pretty much—so it’s exciting to see them team up for something original like this. Here’s a summary of the project…

Kitty Ravencraft, a beautiful and magical young witch, is the star of her own popular comic book. When her greedy, publicity-starved publisher wants to increase interest in her comic book, he does what many comic book publishers do nowadays... he sets out to kill his main character, Kitty! Even worse, he decides to REALLY spike sales by killing the REAL Kitty in REAL life! The question is though... how do you kill a witch? "DIE, KITTY! DIE!" is a funny, exciting, and often sexy story about a girl caught in both the supernatural world of witches, and the super-crazy world of comics!

Learn more about Die, Kitty! Die! here, and maybe even make a pledge, too. I know I already have!

  1. I really like the cover on the first one. It's a very unusual idea about there being a "real" Kitty to kill. Clever!

  5. Glad I found your blog! Via Alex C's- btw. I want to turn my daughter's art into book illustrations someday. Both of my girls love the comic book format some books are using these days.

  6. That sounds like it should be a show on the CW network. I hope they have a successful campaign for funds.

    1. LOL, I don't know if I'd trust the CW with this. It already sounds like they're messing up the upcoming Archie Comics adaptation horribly!

  10. This sounds like a much more intriguing and sophisticated story line than what was around when I was knee-deep in my comic book reading years, and geared more toward an older reading audience than comics used to be. Great covers, too!

  11. How very cool! I'm not much of a comics person (can't remember the last one I read, but it was at least 30 years ago—at least) but the talent shines through here... and in your own work (just came from the Echo Effect page). WOW. I look forward to seeing both you and the Kitty guys published soon!
