Context? Who Needs Context?

Jay: "Probably? Go poke it, just to be sure."
Spencer: "I did all the work! You poke it."
Jay: *puppy-dog eyes*
Spencer: "UGH. FINE."

One of these days, I'm going to reveal genuine "secrets" about Jay and Spencer. Until then, though, you guys will just have to deal with out-of-context concept art!

  1. This made me laugh - I can just picture the "puppy-dog eyes"! I think you're on fire with these new characters, and I love them! Keep on going! :)

    1. Thanks, Lexa! Glad you're enjoying these two so far. I've certainly been having a lot of fun with them! Hopefully I'll have a better sense of their story soon, so I can finally start drawing the actual webcomic!

    1. I highly doubt either of them are threatened enough by rabbits to want to kill one!

  3. That's a lot of guts for a spider - it must have been a big one.

    1. Spiders are probably wise enough to not mess with Spencer... XD

  4. Out of context art FTW!!! Love the blood splatter. Love the scene dialogue after the image. Love their expressions. Love how you manage to squeeze humor into horror. Can't wait for more Spencer & Jay! :D

    1. That blood took far too long to do, and I even had special Photoshop brushes to help speed up the process. LOL.

Anyway, thanks! I can't wait to post more art of Spencer and Jay, but other pieces need my attention right now, so who knows how soon that can happen... XD

    1. Thanks! It might be another year or two before I can premiere the actual webcomic, but I'll definitely be sharing more silly art before then! :)

  7. Hee hee. I'll take the out of context hints. They've got me super curious.

    1. Hopefully I can share some in-context stuff soon, to sate your curiosity! Certain things needed to be kept secret when these two were just side characters, but now that they're the stars...those "secrets" really have no reason to be secret anymore. I can probably reveal these things before I premiere the webcomic, even. Just need to mull over this a little more, to be sure! :)

    2. I completely understand your caution. Don't want to spoil the fun.

  8. This is definitely on the sinister side. Intriguing!

    1. If I handle it correctly, the actual webcomic will end up being even darker than this! ;)

    1. LOL, I honestly have no idea! My characters often show me scenes without giving me all the details, and I feel compelled to draw 'em, anyway. XD

  10. Oooh, I'm intrigued ... *imagines yucky, slimy creatures lying at their feet, splattered*

    1. Your imagination works a lot better than mine. I don't even know what to visualize at their feet! XD

  11. Okay....but definitely interested. Love it when characters pop up like that, inventing themselves. Bet they are up to all kinds of shenanigans!

    1. LOL, yeah, these two get into a lot of messes, for sure!

  12. Wow... haha. I'm interested in the characters already, and you've definitely got skill with details like the blood splatter. (Even if things like blood make me a little squeamish, haha.)

    1. LOL, I'm actually skill-less when it comes to blood. All that splatter is thanks to Photoshop brushes I have! (One day, I'll figure out how to color in blood without a special brush. Today's not that day, though... XD)

  13. This is awesome, Heather!! I laughed out loud. I have a feeling that those two guys have so much to tell us! Jay's posture is priceless! :)

    1. Thanks, Athina! They certainly do have a lot to say. I can't draw everything they're telling me fast enough! XD
