Spencer

Hey, look, it’s Spencer!

Who’s Spencer? Just a character who's been living in my head for over a decade. He belongs to a horror webcomic I might premiere after, or even during, Echo Effect. (Emphasis on might.) My current webcomic is almost halfway over already, so yeah, the sooner I start developing a new one, the better.

I’ve been working on a lot of character designs for this, but Spencer’s is the first I’ve actually completed this year. (This design may change the more I draw him, though.) I’m currently coloring another piece that includes him and two others from this series, so if I decide to let it see the light of day, expect that to pop up sometime, too…

  1. I think Spencer's great! The glasses are so cute. (My hubby's got a pair just like them, and I always tease him! lol) I'd love a horror web comic - spooky things are the best! I'm not even a quarter of the way through my WIP and I'm pondering what to write next too. I need a long time for things to stew before a worthwhile idea materializes. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

    1. Thank you! Glasses are difficult for me to draw, but there aren't enough characters out there with them, so I let Spencer get away with having them... ;)

  2. Oooh, horror... the look in his eyes tells me you're up to no good, Heather! ;-) LOL, joking, I like him already, he's got a very sympathetic look. :-)

    1. Thanks! And LOL, of course I'm up to no good. I like torturing my characters too much to be up to anything else! ;)

  3. Is Spencer the Killer or the Killee? That is the question that I ask of thee.

    1. I'm the killer. All my characters should fear me. :P

(In all seriousness, even though this is a horror series, I don't consider it a slasher series. Some of the darker elements don't deal with death at all...)

    1. LOL, I actually have no idea. I always have a hard time drawing characters when they're just standing around doing nothing. Spencer was nice enough to give me this adorkable pose to work with, though... :P

  6. Love his name and look at those eyes....serious, pondering and maybe confused. Hmm....what's going on there? What's he up to? (Actually, kind of like how I felt after two days of reading about agents and the publishing world :)

    1. LOL, I actually have no idea what's going on in this pic. I just drew it for the sake of figuring out his design! Since he belongs to a horror series, though, there's a good chance he came across something worth running away from... ;)

  10. I like Spencer. He looks as if he's surprised and interested by what he sees around him. Sort of sweet. On the edge of geeky, but really cute. I'll bet he loves puppies.

    1. LOL, I'm actually not sure what kind of opinion he has on puppies. Probably for the best, though. Can you imagine poor puppies in a horror series? XD

    1. Thanks! His character was one of the easiest I ever named, although figuring out his design was pure torture for me, LOL.

    1. Thanks! This story has been in my head for over a decade, so I really can't wait to share it, LOL. He's not the central character, but he is friends with the girl who is, so you'll still see a fair share of him. :)

  14. I think he looks a little confused. Is he going to be a bad guy?

    1. LOL, no, he's the best friend of the protagonist. Plus, I think all my characters would agree that I'm the bad guy... :)

    1. Aw, thank you! :) No longer sure if this project will see the light of day, so he and everyone else from this story may just end up living in my head, haha.
