Fritz

I’ve been sketching some old characters of mine recently. This Saturday, for example, I drew the protagonist from what will be a straight-up horror webcomic…

(I have no idea why his shirt is all torn up. I kept asking him while drawing, but all Fritz would tell me is, “I dunno.”)

I mainly drew Fritz back in 2011-2012, so…this is very rusty, needless to say. He could easily end up looking different from this the more I practice. Not sure how much practice I can squeeze in, since Echo Effect, along with my art commissions, continue to be my top priority, but yeah. He’s been on my mind lately, so I figured I’d give you guys a glimpse of what I’ve been working on!

    1. You might want to be scared of him, too! ;)

  3. Can't blame Fritz. Some times it happens. You don't know where and how things happen.

    1. Haha, true, but I still usually know what's happening to him even when he doesn't... ;)

  4. So glad you did give us a glimpse, Heather because I had to sit back and stare when I opened your page. Fritz has the look of my main character, Hutch McQueen. Seriously. He's rough and torn-looking, yet with a lost boy quality. I immediate thought, that if my book had illustrations, your character could be part of them and I'd call him Hutch. :-)

    1. Wow, really? Too uncanny! Very cool to know that Fritz resembles Hutch for you... :)

  6. how cool! it happens to me with my characters, too, they'll say something, and I'll think, "Why the heck did he just say that?" Kinda cool that it happens to you with drawings, too. And I think spontaneous characters are the best so ... let them say/wear what they want. :-)

    1. Haha, yeah, my characters have a habit of being spontaneous sometimes, whether I like it or not! Nicholas even has a running gag with a pink apron because of it... XD

    2. LOL, it kind of is, especially when you factor in all the other projects that might premier before Fritz's... XD

  9. I love that you keep asking him, and he doesn't know. Maybe he has some kind of amnesia based on the details of his backstory? :)
and I'm sorry I've probably missed out on the latest from Echo Effect. I'll be checking that out now. :)

    1. Poor Fritz isn't lucky enough to have amnesia. He's stuck remembering all the cruel things I plan to put him through! ;)

  10. I get a feeling that whatever happened to him isn't good... he has a hunted look!

    1. But hopefully not as interesting as the story I already have planned for him... ;)

  12. You know how I feel- you are SO talented and are such a gifted artist. I love seeing what you will come up with next. And If he says the shirt must be ripped, go with it. :)

    1. Aw, thank you so much! I have lots of projects in my head, so since it doesn't seem like they'll shut up anytime soon, there's a good chance you'll be seeing more art pop up here! ;)

    1. Knowing Fritz the way I do, I'd say his catchphrase is a lot more emo than "I dunno," haha! And thanks so much for your kind words! :)

  14. Some guys just gotta have that tough boy image, I guess. Perhaps ol' Fritz has been practicing...and failing? ;-)
