Comic Review: Archie #654

Creators: Steven Duvall Scott (writer); Jeff Shultz (artist); Fernando Ruiz (cover artist)

Premise: Archie and the gang participate in a speed-dating event.

Cover Commentary: Neither cover released for this issue clicked with me. (Here's the variant for comparison.) Even though the one I purchased is somewhat bland, Fernando Ruiz is one of my favorite artists, so I still enjoyed the art style!

Overall Thoughts: Archie has no business participating in a speed-dating event, am I right? But that’s exactly what he does, as well as several others, leading to much hilarity. (Even Jughead takes part, thanks to an all-you-can-eat buffet!) Reggie—who’s hosting the event—was easily the highlight for me, somehow managing to be both the best and bested. Overall, I had a lot of fun seeing everyone bounce off each other—sometimes literally—and I have no doubt that fellow Archie fans will feel the same!

  2. I'm with Nana Prah, but I used to gobble them up faster than the guy at the corner newsstand could stock them.

  6. I used to read these on road trips. Wish I had one now and was traveling to my grandparents for the summer.
