Making Time for the God of Time

Man, last night’s episode of Supernatural totally made me geek-out, and not just because Jason Dohring guest-starred on there, which—as any Veronica Mars fan will attest—is usually more than enough for geekery. My geek-out was amped-up more than normal because not only did Jason Dohring guest-star on there, but he guest-starred as a Greek god—a Greek god in a freakin’ fedora!

What’s the big deal about the fedora, you ask? Because I’ve been making Greek gods wear fedoras in my books for years, that’s what! (Not all of them. Mainly Hermes. But still. The randomness of Supernatural making a Greek god wear a fedora, too, is all too squee-worthy!)

I really wish Jason Dohring would have had more screen time, though. His character’s elusiveness throughout most of the episode was well done, don’t get me wrong, but the depth they started giving him later was snatched away waaaay too fast with the *Wham, bam, he’s dead, ma’am!* end. I wanted to see Chronos explored more! Sigh.

Still, I loved the little I got to see of his character, enough so to make a quick piece of Chronos fan art:

This is the first time I’ve tried drawing more realistically—shading and all—in a looooong time. SO. HARD. Despite me trying to draw realistically, this still looks more on the cartoonish side, and it doesn’t even look much like Jason Dohring, either. I really need to practice some more….

P.S. Yes, the fact that this post exists means my blogging break will be ending soon. It’d be nice to start catching up with blogs and comments sometime this weekend. *crosses fingers*

  1. That's a really good drawing!

I need to start watching Supernatural again! Having a really TV addicted family means I can't watch much!

    1. Thanks! :)

Supernatural is such a good show, even though seasons 6 and 7 have been a bit on/off to me. Good luck getting a chance to catch up with it!

    2. I know. Well I've only seen some Season 6 episodes. I loved the first two seasons and then started to lose interest.

It'll take a lot of effort. I'd need to start at season 4!

    3. Seasons 4 and 5 are soooo good. A lot of the time, I wish the show had ended with the season 5 finale, as originally planned. It wrapped the brothers' arcs so well....

    4. I guess they continued because of ratings. I'm not gonna complain though! More DeanLove for me!!!!

    5. Yeah, the ratings are probably why the show has continued. And it is still better than most things on TV right now. Still, I can't help but feel like they're just "spinning their wheels" sometimes, though. Some of the plot turns with the new show-runner have felt a bit "off" to me, too. But I guess I need to stop analyzing so much and just enjoy the show, haha.

    6. I know. I consider Supernatural to be up there with Buffy and Charmed. Secret Circle is getting there but I'm kinda going off Vamp Diaries. The plotline has been dragged on too much and the progression sucks.

    7. I love Buffy! Supernatural is definitely on par with that show. I used to like Charmed, but it gradually started to annoy me, to the point where I only kept up with it because I'd been watching since the beginning. I still like The Vampire Diaries, but I agree, it's not as good as it used to be. I can easily see myself stop watching it in the future if it doesn't redeem itself. The original four books the show is (barely) based on are way better, anyway!

  2. I'm sure you will get the hang of it allover again (talking about your drawing). I think drawing is like riding a bicycle. When you stop for a long time, it only takes a few tries for everything to come back to you.
I've been out of the loop for supernatural. Maybe someday I will be able to catch up on netflix? :)

    1. I hope so! I've been drawing steadily the past few years, but mostly in my comic style, so trying to do something more realistic again has been a bit of a head-trip, haha.

Supernatural is a really good show, so yeah, hopefully Netflix can help you catch up someday! ;)
