*waves at blogosphere* Hey, guys! Sorry it’s taken me this long to update the blog. After recovering from having my wisdom teeth pulled, I got caught up in things like Christmas shopping, and even gift-making. Now that the gist of that has been taken care of, hopefully I can start a proper blog catch-up this week!
Speaking of wisdom teeth…everything went well, for the most part. The laughing gas was just…weird. It didn’t make me laugh, but it did make me feel like my blood sugar was plummeting super-fast—not fun, as a diabetic—and I was completely lucid and panicky for the whole surgery, even though I was “out of it,” to an extent. At one point during the surgery, I heard a nurse say, “Darn it, I’ve done that twice now. I’m having bad luck today,” which didn’t help me feel less panicky. But luckily, there were no complications (although my surgery turned out to be more difficult than they had already anticipated). I didn’t even have to be on pain meds, that’s how much pain I was not in.
Yep, I didn’t take pain meds. The only time I did was when I came home right after surgery, since they instructed me to take a dose before the numbing stuff wore off. Yeah, well, that caused me to vomit on/off all night—I couldn’t even sip water without getting nauseous—so I decided on my first day without wisdom teeth to not take any more of those pain meds ever. I totally lucked out by—wonder of wonders—not being in pain.
Now that I’m fully recovered, I’m on a productivity kick. There’s so much I want to get done before 2012, and it doesn’t simply involve wrapping Christmas gifts. The first of these involves writing. Every year since 2007, I seem to write substantially less than I did the year before. (Sometimes the difference is as high as 100K words.) I really want to break this streak. Fortunately, the word count difference between this year and the last one is only about 20K so far, so I’m determined to write 21K more words before January’s here. Not sure I can pull it off, but I can still try.
The other thing I want to accomplish before 2012 is reading. My TBR pile is huge—so huge, in fact, that it is technically TBR piles. The sight of it is overwhelming, so I’d love to finally shrink it into something tolerable again. I plan to read roughly a third of it before 2012, which means I need to read at least 30 books. I’ve already finished three since making that goal, so it’s technically just 27 books now. Again, this is something I’m not sure I can pull off, but I’ll get more done trying than not, so that is what I’m going to do.
